Isaac Henry Taylor letters, 1861-1862.

Correspondence sent by Isaac Henry Taylor of Charlestown, Mass. to his parents while serving as a private in the 29th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment during the Civil War, 1861-62. Taylor describes the movement of his unit including the journey from Worcester, Mass. to Baltimore, Md.; living conditions in Annapolis, Md., Roanoke Island, NC, and Fort Monroe, Va.; the commands of Gen. Ambrose Burnside; and an outbreak of smallpox.

Burnside was born in Liberty, Indiana and was the fourth of nine children of Edghill and Pamela (or Pamilia) Brown Burnside, a family of Scottish origin.
